Veneto small businesses confront youth gap and shop closures

Confartigianato Imprese Vicenza will host a provincial consultation for the construction sector on 29 July 2026 in Vicenza. The round‑table aims to discuss how to attract and retain young people in building trades and related industries, encouraging participants – owners, managers and employees – to share experiences and ideas.

Separately, the Confesercenti association for Central Veneto highlighted the recent shutdown of the historic Padua newsstand on Piazza Cavour, describing it as a symptom of a wider decline of neighbourhood retail. The closure, attributed to rising costs, online competition and aging shop‑keepers, is said to weaken social cohesion and public safety. Confesercenti is campaigning for a popular law proposal (ZES Pro) intended to improve conditions for small‑scale commerce, tourism and services in the region.
