Multiple criminal incidents involving assaults and thefts have been reported in the Rialto area of Venice.
In one incident occurring in early July, a group of individuals attacked several young women near the Erbaria area. The confrontation reportedly began after a man aggressively demanded that the women lower their voices in a bar. The situation escalated into a physical assault that left victims with facial contusions, and one woman was robbed of her handbag. Following investigations using surveillance footage and witness testimony, the Local Police identified five suspects. The Questore of Venice has issued “Daspo Willy” orders against them, banning them from the Rialto nightlife area for one to two years.
In a separate incident on the Rialto Bridge, a tourist attempted to resist a theft. The struggle involved shouting and pushing, but the victim successfully deterred the attackers with assistance from bystanders. Local police intervened, resulting in two adult women being reported and one minor being placed in a community center.
