Venezia FC signs Argentine defender Matías Moreno on loan with buy‑out

Venezia FC confirmed the acquisition of 20‑year‑old Argentine centre‑back Matías Moreno on a loan deal lasting until the end of the 2026/27 season. The agreement includes an obligatory purchase clause that will be triggered when certain conditions are met. Moreno arrived at Fiorentina in the summer of 2024 after developing in the youth system of Atlético Belgrano and making his senior debut in 2023. He recorded 12 appearances for Fiorentina across all competitions and featured in eight UEFA Conference League matches before moving to Venezia.

The club will begin its pre‑season preparations with a tour in France from 31 July to 7 August, based in Divonne‑les‑Bains. Venezia will play two friendly matches: against AS Saint‑Étienne on 1 August and against Stade Brestois 29 on 8 August. A possible addition to the squad, midfielder Simon Sohm from Fiorentina, is expected to be finalised shortly after the loan signing.

Coach Giovanni Stroppa highlighted the project and confidence in the new signing, while Moreno expressed enthusiasm about joining the historic city of Venice and its supporters.
