Venezia FC signs defender Rufai Mohammed on loan from IF Elfsborg

Venezia FC has reached an agreement with Swedish club IF Elfsborg to acquire Ghanaian defender Rufai Mohammed on a loan deal with an option to buy. The 20-year-old centre-back joins the Italian side to bolster their defensive unit.

Mohammed, who stands 1.98 metres tall, began his career at Inter Allies FC in Ghana before moving to Elfsborg in March 2024. He gained experience in the Swedish top flight through a loan spell at IFK Värnamo during the 2024/25 season, where he made 16 appearances and scored two goals. During his time with Elfsborg, he has made 18 total appearances, contributing one goal and one assist.

Upon the move, Mohammed expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity to play in a high-quality league, stating that the transfer would help him develop further as a professional footballer.
