Venezia Mestre station to undergo major infrastructure works
Platform 1 at the Venezia Mestre railway station will be out of service from 23:00 on November 2 until 05:00 on December 12, 2026, to facilitate the construction of a new intermodal hub.
The project, promoted by RFI, involves significant changes to the station's layout. Train stopping points will shift eastward, new protected passenger paths will be established, and station access points will be reorganized. The works also include the reopening of a second underpass and modifications to external spaces to improve connections with buses, taxis, and private vehicles. This configuration is a precursor to the gradual demolition of the current passenger building.
Travelers will experience service disruptions and route changes. On the Venezia Santa Lucia – Portogruaro-Caorle line, services will instead originate or terminate at Venezia Mestre. The Venezia – Adria line will face cancellations between Venezia Santa Lucia and Venezia Mestre. Additionally, some services from Trieste may be diverted via Bivio Spinea, potentially increasing travel times by up to 15 minutes. Pedestrian access between certain platforms will be redirected through alternative routes via via Trento and the station's multi-story car park.
