Venezia police conduct security operations against illegal trade and urban decay

Local police in Venice have conducted a series of operations aimed at combating illegal commerce and urban decay. In the Riva degli Schiavoni area, authorities seized 43 bags linked to unauthorized trade and 23 bracelets from two foreign nationals.

Near the Ponte della Paglia, officers intercepted two individuals participating in the “scatolette” street game. Police confiscated the equipment used for the activity, including a mat, a ball, and the containers, along with 50 euros in cash. The individuals were ordered to leave the area.

In a separate security initiative, the Venice Local Police joined the Lagunari of the Reggimento Serenissima for a nighttime patrol in the Quadrante Piave area. The operation, which included drug-sniffing canine units and six patrol cars, involved checkpoints and inspections of vehicles and pedestrians across several streets, including Via Piave and Piazzale Bainsizza. This crackdown is part of a broader strategy to increase territorial presence and support urban redevelopment projects.
