Italy: Blasphemy fine in Venice and crime reports in Naples

In Venice, a 22-year-old scooter rider was fined 102 euros for blasphemy after narrowly avoiding hitting a pedestrian at the Lido. Local police officers witnessed the incident, where the young man reacted to the near-accident with loud profanities. The fine was issued under Article 724 of the Italian penal code, which classifies public blasphemy as an administrative offense punishable by fines ranging from 51 to 309 euros.

In Naples, two minors aged 14 and 15 were reported to authorities for aggravated damage in the Piscinola district. The teenagers were caught by Carabinieri while attempting to uproot a metal bollard in Piazza Tafuri, an act they reportedly intended to film for social media likes.

Additionally, the Guardia di Finanza conducted a major operation in the Miano neighborhood of Naples, seizing nearly 50 kilograms of cocaine. The seizure, linked to the Lo Russo clan, is estimated to have a street value of over three million euros.
