Venezuela advances demolition and rebuilding of housing and kiosks
Governor José Alejandro Terán of La Guaira announced the recovery of the five‑tower Cacique Caribe complex in Catia La Mar, noting that 3,938 homes classified as “yellow” are being rehabilitated because they suffered only masonry damage. He said the work is coordinated with the Ministry of Public Works and the Ministry of Habitat and Housing, and that soil studies are under way for three new buildings on the site. In the same period, officials identified 35 additional structures slated for demolition and praised the controlled demolition of the OPP residential building in Playa Grande as a technical success.
In the municipality of Caroní, the Superintendence of Administration Taxation demolished 13 informal kiosks on Guarapiche Avenue in Unare I on 5 August. The kiosks, deemed abandoned and obstructing pedestrians, will be relocated to cemented premises as part of a broader beautification and re‑ordering plan that has been ongoing in Bolívar state since 2020.
