Venezuela advances scientific training, agricultural tech, and environmental initiatives

Various scientific, technological, and economic developments are being reported across Venezuela. The National Center for Telecommunications Development and Research (Cendit) has expanded its academic offerings to include 14 courses covering electronics, fiber optics, and renewable energy, such as photovoltaic system design and PCB construction.

In the agricultural and environmental sectors, Fundacite Monagas held a forum on plant biostimulation to mitigate climate change effects, while Fundacite Cojedes organized a reforestation initiative titled ‘Sembrando para la Vida’ using organic techniques to restore soil fertility.

Regarding science communication, Roberto Betancourt, president of the National Observatory of Science, Technology and Innovation (Oncti), highlighted a gap in public information consumption. While nearly 90% of the population expresses interest in science, only 54% prioritize it in their news preferences.

In the financial sector, BNC reported significant growth during its 2026 Ordinary Assembly, noting its position as a leader in foreign currency deposits and its expansion of tax collection services.
