Regional agencies implement digital reforms to streamline administrative services
Several Latin American agencies are implementing digital reforms to streamline administrative processes.
In Venezuela, SENIAT has eliminated the requirement for physical documents that are already in its database, such as ID copies and tax filings, to expedite import and export operations. The agency also introduced a color-coded selectivity system for cargo inspection. Additionally, the INTT has launched a new web platform, reducing its digital procedures from 700 to 88 to reduce bureaucracy. The INTT is also conducting special vehicle documentation operations across five states.
In the Dominican Republic, INTRANT is introducing digital fiscalization tools. Director Juan Manuel Méndez clarified that this is not a 'photomulta' (camera-based fine) system, but rather a method for agents to use electronic devices to replace manual forms, thereby reducing data entry errors during traffic stops.
In Mexico, authorities in Baja California Sur have simplified the process for obtaining a first-time driver's license, reducing the requirements from 21 to just four and eliminating the mandatory medical exam for blood type verification.
