Venezuela and CAF reactivate artificial intelligence cooperation

Venezuela and the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF) have agreed to reactivate strategic cooperation projects focused on artificial intelligence, digital rights, and disaster resilience.

During a meeting between Venezuela’s Minister of Science and Technology, Yván Gil, and CAF representative Xavier Prieto, the parties discussed the National Plan for Science, Technology, and Culture of Innovation 2025-2050. This roadmap aims to promote scientific research and talent retention within the country.

Key areas for technical cooperation include digital transformation, the modernization of data center infrastructure, and the optimization of payment systems for public banking. CAF has also offered specialized assistance to evaluate a proposal for constructing a new large-scale data center in Venezuela. The Venezuelan Institute for Scientific Research (IVIC) has been designated as the focal point for technical coordination and monitoring of these multilateral programs.
