Venezuela and Colombia launch business recovery efforts after earthquakes

Efforts to revitalize commerce following recent seismic activity are underway in Venezuela and Colombia. In Venezuela, the central government has launched a credit program to support entrepreneurs in La Guaira affected by a significant earthquake. Led by acting president Delcy Rodríguez, the initiative involves a partnership between public banks and the private Banco Nacional de Crédito (BNC) to inject capital into local businesses and help merchants reopen.

In Colombia, the company Bavaria has announced an investment of 12 billion pesos to support the recovery of 3,500 businesses. This initiative aligns with the National Government’s Reconstruction Plan for Merchants and Micro-entrepreneurs, aiming to assist small shopkeepers and entrepreneurs in resuming economic activities in areas impacted by the earthquake on August 10.
