Venezuela and Ecuador Tackle Passport and ID Service Delays
Venezuela's Administrative Service of Identification, Migration and Foreigners (Saime) announced specific time windows for same‑day passport collection. Applicants whose biometric data are captured between 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. can receive their passport that same day, while those processed after 1:30 p.m. must wait until the following morning.
In Ecuador, the Civil Registry confirmed nationwide technical interruptions that disrupted the issuance of identity cards, passports and certificates. The outages caused longer wait times and delays for thousands of citizens. Technical teams were mobilised to restore the platforms and normalise service across all agencies.
