Venezuela announces June banking holiday and raises official dollar and euro rates

The Venezuelan banking system will be closed to in‑person services on Monday 8 June, a holiday observed for Corpus Christi, as announced by the banking regulator Sudeban. All bank branches and agencies will be shut, but electronic channels such as online transfers, mobile payments, ATMs and phone or internet balance checks will remain operational. Customers are advised to plan transactions in advance. Sudeban notes that the next banking holiday will fall on Monday 29 June for the Feast of Saints Peter and Paul.

Separately, the Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV) implemented a new official exchange‑rate schedule effective 3 June. The dollar was set at 558.64 bolívars, up 0.12%, and the euro at 650.56 bolívars, up 0.36%, reflecting continued market volatility and inflation pressures. The adjustments underscore the disparity between the frozen minimum wage of 130 bolívars and the official currency values, highlighting the ongoing economic crisis.
