Venezuela announces modernization plan for Caracas pediatric cardiology hospital
Venezuela's acting president, Delcy Rodríguez, announced a modernization and technological investment plan for the Hospital Cardiológico Infantil Latinoamericano Dr. Gilberto Rodríguez Ochoa in Caracas. The initiative aims to upgrade diagnostic and surgical capabilities by 2026, including the acquisition of new echocardiography equipment, X-ray systems, and technology for hemodynamics and extracorporeal circulation.
Rodríguez also ordered the implementation of a digital medical record system across the country's public health centers, modeled after the digital system used at the pediatric cardiology hospital since 2011. This plan seeks to interconnect patient histories throughout the national healthcare system.
During the commemoration of the hospital's 20th anniversary, officials noted that the facility has performed 15,393 surgical interventions and hemodynamics procedures for children and adolescents with congenital heart disease. Rodríguez stated that the hospital currently has no waiting lists for pediatric patients.
