Venezuela athletics team prepares for South American Games in Santa Fe

The Venezuelan athletics delegation is preparing for the South American Games in Santa Fe, Argentina, aiming to surpass the 11 medals earned during the Asunción 2022 edition. The team will begin competition on September 22.

Pole vaulter Ricardo Montes de Oca leads the squad. The 19-year-old, who holds the national record with a mark of 5.70 meters, seeks to add a third title to his recent successes at the Bolivarian and Central American and Caribbean championships.

Other key members of the delegation include hammer thrower Rosa Rodríguez, a multi-time medalist in the event, and runner Edymar Brea, who seeks to improve upon her previous fifth-place finishes in the 5,000 and 10,000 meters. The roster also features sprinters Orangys Jiménez and Kelvis Padrino.
