Venezuela becomes second most frequent nationality arriving in Spain in Q2 2026
Data from Spain's National Statistics Institute (INE) indicates that Venezuelan nationals became the second most frequent nationality arriving in Spain during the second quarter of 2026, following Colombians.
During the second quarter of 2026, 23,300 Venezuelans arrived in the country, up from 21,200 recorded in the first quarter. This brings the total arrivals from Venezuela for the first half of the year to 44,500. In comparison, 34,000 Colombians arrived during the same period, following 38,600 arrivals in the first quarter. Moroccans ranked third in arrivals for the second quarter with 21,000 people.
Spain's total population reached a record 49,801,559 inhabitants by the end of the second quarter of 2026. Of this total, 7,437,543 are foreign nationals, and 10,291,807 are residents born abroad, a figure that includes both foreign nationals and those who have since acquired Spanish citizenship.
