Venezuela begins distributing funds for 2026 National Popular Consultation
Venezuela has commenced the progressive distribution of financial resources to communes following the second 2026 National Popular Consultation. Minister of Communes Ángel Prado announced that budgetary transfers began on Monday, following a schedule established by the Federal Government Council.
The consultation process involved the proposal of over 37,205 socio-productive, infrastructure, and essential service projects. These projects originated from popular assemblies held across more than 4,218 communal circuits and 5,418 communes nationwide. Notably, the voting process included the participation of two communal circuits from the Guayana Esequiba region.
Funding for these projects is being coordinated through various levels of government. In Caracas, the local mayoralty is financing the second most voted option, while the national government covers the first. Other regional contributions include support from governorships and mayoralties, such as in Falcón state, to complete community works. The initiative aims to strengthen territorial self-governance and local management of resources.
