Venezuela begins public consultation for new livestock development law
A public consultation process has begun in Venezuela to develop and strengthen the Law for the Promotion, Development, and Protection of Livestock Activities. The initiative aims to create a regulatory framework that addresses the specific needs of the productive sector to bolster national food sovereignty.
In Apure, Ricardo Sánchez, president of the Alianza para el Cambio party, announced the start of the consultation following a tour with local producers. Key objectives of the proposed law include ensuring legal and personal security for production units, promoting the export profile of Venezuelan livestock, and facilitating access to financing for technological advancement and herd growth.
Simultaneously, in Guárico, members of the Permanent Commission on Economy, Finance, and Development held meetings in Valle de la Pascua. This session included deputies such as Jesús Faria, Blas Carrillo, and Fran Morales. Discussions focused on animal health, disease prevention, technical training, theft prevention (abigeato), infrastructure, and market access to ensure the sustainability and competitiveness of the national livestock system.
