Venezuela begins receiving holiday season imports
Venezuelan customs and cargo agencies have begun receiving and nationalizing merchandise for the upcoming December holiday season. Gretsy Marín, president of the Association of Cargo and Customs Agencies of Venezuela (Asocav), noted that regular importers are following established cycles to prepare for year-end demand.
Operations at the port of La Guaira have resumed following repairs to port cranes and the conclusion of a contingency period. Previously, cargo had been diverted to Puerto Cabello due to technical failures at La Guaira. While vessels can now dock at La Guaira following a Seniat announcement, Marín cautioned that full operational normality will take time to achieve.
Economic factors, such as pending permits and market caution, may influence the final volume of imports. Additionally, the sector faces logistical challenges and the ongoing process of recovering personnel and equipment to stabilize activities.
