Venezuela commemorates 374 years of the Virgen de Coromoto

Religious authorities and government officials in Venezuela have gathered to commemorate the 374th anniversary of the appearance of the Virgen de Coromoto and to mark the beginning of the Coromoto Jubilee Year.

In Guanare, a solemn Eucharist was held at the Basilica Menor Santuario Nacional, attended by Zulia Governor Luis Caldera, First Lady Roselyn López de Caldera, and local Governor Primitivo Cedeño, alongside various ministers and deputies. The festivities included the lighting of the jubilee candle and the blessing of the baptismal font. This year’s religious theme is ‘Under your mantle, Venezuela renews.’

In San Cristóbal, Monsignor Juan Alberto Ayala presided over a mass at the Nuestra Señora de Coromoto parish to honor the nativity of the Virgin Mary and the anniversary of the apparition. During the service, four new altar servers were consecrated. The liturgy included reflections on peace, humility, and unity for the nation.
