Venezuela completes 65,000 inspections following June earthquakes

Three months after the earthquakes on June 24, Venezuela's Presidential Commission for Habitability Evaluation has completed over 65,000 infrastructure inspections across seven affected entities. Led by President Francisco Garcés, a team of 4,000 architects and engineers conducted the assessments to ensure resident safety.

In Caracas, more than 30,000 evaluations were performed, while La Guaira saw over 20,000. Scientific studies conducted alongside experts from Stanford University and Chile indicate that the seismic events reached some of the highest peaks recorded in seismological history. The earthquakes resulted in 6,509 fatalities and significant material damage.

Damage levels vary by region: La Guaira reports 32% of buildings with deep structural damage, compared to 12% in Caracas and 7% in Miranda. Debris removal in La Guaira is 40% complete, with plans to move two million tons of material through an agreement between the Ministry of Public Works and Miyamoto International. Technical evaluations continue for structures categorized as yellow or red to determine necessary repairs and priority infrastructure projects.
