Venezuela completes largest cattle drive in Latin America with 6,000 head in Apure

More than 6,000 cattle (mautes) were moved in a three‑day, 40‑kilometre drive across the savannas of Apure state, marking the largest livestock relocation in Venezuela and Latin America. Sixty llaneros on horseback guided the herd from the Cañafístola ranch to the Turagua ranch, passing through Bruzual and Mantecal in the Muñoz municipality.

Minister of Productive Agriculture Vladimir Padrino López and Governor Wilmer Rodríguez attended the operation, emphasizing its cultural significance and the strength of Venezuelan cattle breeding. The drive was organized by Agropecuaria Flora (Agroflora) and the Corporación Ganadera Bravos de Apure (Corpogaba), both under the ministry, and involved a herd of about 100,000 head featuring Brahman, Nelore, Senepol, Guzerat and Romosinuano breeds. The minister also highlighted the state's leading role in vaccinating cattle against foot‑and‑mouth disease and noted rising national meat consumption.
