Venezuela: Delcy Rodríguez oversees housing and food security projects

Acting President of Venezuela Delcy Rodríguez has overseen several government initiatives in Caracas focused on housing and food security. In Ciudad Caribia, Rodríguez inspected the construction of 2,100 temporary single-family camps. These structures are intended to provide safer living conditions for families displaced by earthquakes on June 24, who are currently residing in shelters or schools. The project includes eight terraces and is designed to ensure students have adequate facilities before the school year begins in September.

Additionally, Rodríguez inaugurated the 'Aquiles Nazoa' Mercal supermarket on San Martín Avenue in Caracas. This facility is the 200th recovered establishment in a national plan to reactivate the public food distribution network. The supermarket covers 1,422 square meters and can store over 86 metric tons of goods. The government aims to recover a total of 416 Mercal and PDVAL establishments by the end of 2026 to increase weekly food distribution capacity to over 26,000 metric tons.
