Venezuela earthquake of magnitude 3.0 hits La Guaira and Caracas

A magnitude 3.0 earthquake struck the central coastal region of Venezuela on Sunday, August 30. According to the Venezuelan Foundation for Seismological Research (Funvisis), the epicenter was located 4 kilometers west of La Guaira at a depth of 12.3 kilometers.

The tremor was felt in La Guaira, Caracas, and Miranda state. While the event caused anxiety among residents, particularly due to concurrent rainfall, authorities have reported no structural damage or casualties.

This seismic activity follows a major earthquake on June 24 that resulted in over 6,500 deaths. Experts note that the current movements are part of the ongoing crustal readjustment process, with more than 1,700 aftershocks recorded nationwide since the June event.
