La Guaira earthquake recovery faces massive costs and geological challenges
Two months after the June 24 seismic doublet in La Guaira, Venezuela, scientific investigations have confirmed significant geological damage at the epicenter. Geologists from Funvisis reported findings of soil liquefaction and lateral relaxation cracks, some exceeding 150 meters in depth, which contributed to the collapse of numerous structures.
Economic experts estimate the reconstruction costs will be substantial.
