Venezuela economy shows uneven growth in manufacturing and construction

The Venezuelan economy is experiencing uneven growth across different sectors. According to Fedecámaras, the manufacturing and construction sectors have shown recent progress, while the commerce sector has seen very slight positive evolution. However, other economic activities continue to report negative figures, and the overall pace of recovery is slowing.

In the logistics and transport sector, Jonathan Durvelle, president of the Cámara Regional de Carga, warned that unauthorized tolls are creating severe cost overruns. These irregular charges disrupt logistical planning and increase freight costs, which ultimately impacts final consumer prices. The industry has also highlighted the need for consistent fuel supplies and a more stable tax framework to maintain production and distribution.

Looking ahead, business leaders suggest that economic growth for the remainder of the year will be primarily driven by increased oil production. Fedecámaras president Felipe Capozzolo emphasized that while oil is a current driver, diversifying the productive economy is essential for long-term national sustainability.
