Venezuela experiences widespread power outages and voltage fluctuations

Venezuela is facing significant electrical instability, characterized by both prolonged outages and sudden voltage fluctuations. In the state of Lara, specifically in Barquisimeto, 31 communities across three municipalities experienced cumulative power failures totaling nearly 150 hours. These outages disrupted essential public services, including a Saime office where children were unable to process identification documents.

On October 23, massive voltage fluctuations were reported across Gran Caracas—including Distrito Capital, Miranda, and Vargas—as well as in Carabobo, Falcón, Aragua, Barinas, and Lara. These fluctuations were strong enough to trigger device protection systems and shut down household appliances. Additionally, several regions continue to suffer from extended rationing, with reports of service interruptions in Guárico and Maracaibo. Authorities have not yet officially released the causes of these electrical failures.
