Venezuela faces calls for systemic reconstruction amid rising public optimism
Following a period of prolonged crisis, emigration, and political confrontation, there is a growing movement in Venezuela toward a psychological and structural transformation of the nation. This proposed shift aims to renew the economy, institutions, education, and public services, moving beyond mere changes in government to address the fundamental relationship between citizens and the state.
A 2026 national survey conducted by Gold Glove Consulting, following a U.S. military intervention on January 3, indicates a shift in public sentiment. The survey found that 72% of respondents believe the country is moving in a positive direction, while 83% express optimism about the future.
Despite this rising hope, significant challenges remain. According to the Financial Times, Venezuelans continue to face major economic concerns, including the cost of living, health, and employment. Additionally, 58% of those surveyed reported that security has worsened, and 68% are calling for presidential elections to be held during 2026.
