Venezuela faces deficit of up to 25,000 agricultural tractors

Venezuela faces a significant deficit in agricultural machinery, with an estimated shortage of between 20,000 and 25,000 tractors, according to Gomel José Sierra, Vice President of the Federación de Ganaderos de la Cuenca del Lago.

In addition to equipment shortages, the agricultural sector is struggling with frequent electricity outages, particularly in Zulia state. These power cuts have severely impacted the production of milk and meat. Many producers lack electric generators to power refrigeration systems, leading to milk spoilage that prevents it from being processed by cheese factories.

Sierra noted that the lack of reliable electricity also affects worker productivity due to heat and exhaustion. He emphasized the need for increased financing to allow producers to invest in genetics, infrastructure, and tractor repairs to stabilize the sector.
