Venezuela: Families hold 214-day vigil for political prisoners

Families of political prisoners in Venezuela have reached 214 days of continuous vigil outside the El Rodeo I prison. The protesters have established a permanent camp to demand the release of their relatives and seek clarity regarding ongoing judicial processes.

The protest originated following announcements of mass releases by the government of interim president Delcy Rodríguez, but demonstrators claim these promises have yielded limited results. The movement has evolved from a temporary mobilization into a long-term occupation, with families enduring significant physical and emotional exhaustion.

Participants are demanding freedom, justice, and legal guarantees. Supporters from various other detention centers, including Ramo Verde, El Helicoide, and Yare, have joined the protest at El Rodeo I. The Committee for the Freedom of Political Prisoners (CLIPPVE) continues to document the conditions of those detained and the challenges faced by their families.
