Venezuela: Families of political prisoners protest in Caracas

Families of political prisoners in Venezuela held a second day of peaceful demonstrations in Caracas as part of the “Ruta de la búsqueda de respuestas” (Route for Seeking Answers). Organized by the Committee for the Freedom of Political Prisoners (Clippve), the protesters marched from the Ombudsman's Office to the Public Ministry headquarters to demand concrete responses regarding their relatives' cases.

Participants are calling for the release of all political detainees and demanding that Attorney General Larry Devoe address allegations of torture, cruel treatment, deaths in custody, arbitrary detentions, and unauthorized transfers. Protesters also highlighted a lack of institutional follow-up, noting that some complaints regarding human rights violations and procedural delays have remained unaddressed for years.

The week-long mobilization is scheduled to continue with a demonstration at the Miraflores Palace on Friday and will conclude with vigils in various plazas over the weekend.
