Venezuela halts vehicle traffic on Punta Brava bridge in Morrocoy Park after 4.5 quake
A magnitude‑4.5 earthquake struck the Morrocoy region on the night of August 1, followed by aftershocks. The Ministry of Ecosocialism and the National Parks Institute (Inparques) announced a preventive measure, fully restricting vehicular traffic on the Punta Brava bridge within Morrocoy National Park. Only pedestrian crossing is permitted, supervised by the park’s civil guard, security forces and civil‑protection personnel, while engineers inspect the structure for settlements or micro‑fractures.
Authorities urged visitors and nearby communities to cooperate with the directives to ensure safety and preserve the park’s natural areas.
