Venezuela hardware sector prepared for earthquake reconstruction demands

The Venezuelan hardware sector has sufficient operational capacity and inventory to meet the demand for construction materials required to rebuild areas affected by recent earthquakes, according to Bruno Saglimbeni, president of the Cámara Ferretera Nacional.

Saglimbeni stated that the private sector provided an immediate response during the first 72 hours of the emergency by distributing protective equipment, tools, and masks. As the focus shifts toward large-scale urban infrastructure and housing repairs, the industry remains fully active. All national cement plants are operating normally, alongside production lines for rebar, pipes, cables, and electronic switches.

The trade organization dismissed any possibility of shortages or scarcity of basic supplies in the national market. While price variations may occur at retail points, the sector attributes these to international raw material costs and maritime freight rather than local speculation.
