Regional health authorities implement medical expansions and disease controls

Various regional health authorities are implementing measures to improve medical access and manage public health risks.

In Venezuela, a new blood bank has opened at the Miguel Malpica Hospital in Carabobo to support approximately 70 to 100 monthly transfusions. Additionally, in Yaracuy, a surgical campaign is underway to treat over 250 cataract patients, while in Aragua, health teams distributed more than 1,060 units of free medication and provided 500 consultations to vulnerable populations.

In Argentina, the Ministry of Public Health is working to optimize dental services by increasing human resources, expanding dental shifts, and implementing preventive maintenance for equipment, which has already seen the recovery of 43 dental chairs. The ministry is also intensifying vector control efforts to mitigate the spread of Dengue, Zika, and Chikungunya through community training and mosquito breeding site management.

In Chile, health authorities in Taltal and Tocopilla have activated coordination with local municipalities to address an unusual increase in fly populations. Officials noted that recent rainfall combined with high temperatures has accelerated the reproductive cycle of these insects and the decomposition of organic matter.
