Venezuela hosts large community sports events in Maracaibo and Monagas

The Sambil shopping centre in Maracaibo organised a nationwide 5K walk that took place simultaneously in eight Venezuelan cities on 5 June 2026. The event featured hydration stations, medical assistance, live music, foam zones and a raffle for a Changan Motor vehicle, attracting thousands of families and cyclists.

On the same day, the XX Student National Sports Games were inaugurated in Monagas at the Gilberto Roque Morales covered gym in Maturín. More than 900 athletes from the state’s 13 municipalities will compete in 24 disciplines, with the top performers forming a state team for the upcoming regional phase in the states of Falcón, Zulia and Trujillo.
