Venezuela infrastructure inspections underway following earthquakes

Following recent earthquakes in Venezuela, authorities and international organizations are conducting technical inspections to assess infrastructure damage and plan for reconstruction.

A delegation from the CAF - Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean, led by Infrastructure Manager Ángel Cárdenas Sosa, inspected the Port of La Guaira. The visit aimed to evaluate damage to port facilities and its impact on logistics and productivity. The delegation, accompanied by officials from Bolivariana de Puertos (Bolipuertos), explored recovery mechanisms through the CAF Venezuela Recovery and Reconstruction Fund.

In Caracas, Francisco Garcés of the Presidential Commission for the Evaluation of Infrastructure Habitability and Japanese structural expert Kit Miyamoto inspected the Torre de David. The 45-story unfinished building is being evaluated for technical viability and potential repurposing following the seismic activity. The commission has conducted over 54,000 evaluations nationwide to identify structures requiring attention based on safety color-coding.
