Venezuela introduces National AI Plan and Apple expands Siri AI to Spanish
Venezuela has unveiled its National Artificial Intelligence Plan for 2025–2031. Presented by Science and Technology Minister Yvan Gil, the strategic roadmap aims to foster technological independence and socioeconomic development through five priority areas: talent training, secure data governance, advanced infrastructure, applied research, and international cooperation. The plan includes the creation of the National Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Information and Communication Technologies to regulate the sector, alongside the development of a National Open Data Platform and a High-Performance Computing Center.
In the private sector, Apple is preparing to launch its redesigned Siri AI in Spanish via the iOS 27 update. The deployment is being led by Lilian Rincón, Apple’s Vice President of Product Marketing for AI. The new model is designed to account for linguistic diversity and cultural nuances across Spanish-speaking regions, including Mexico, Colombia, and Chile, to better serve the global population of over 635 million Spanish speakers.
