Venezuela issues health alert over illegal immune globulin

The National Institute of Hygiene ‘Rafael Rangel’ (INHRR) has issued a health alert in Venezuela regarding the illegal commercialization of Gammaraas 5% Immune Globulin Intravenous (Human) 5% Injection. The alert specifically targets lot number 2024100039 (also identified as 202410G039), which authorities have deemed a high sanitary risk.

Technical and analytical evaluations revealed several critical irregularities. The product lacks the required sanitary registration in Venezuela, and there is a discrepancy between the lot numbers and dates printed on the secondary packaging (box) versus the primary container (vial). Furthermore, laboratory tests determined that the medication lacks the active human immune globulin ingredient.

Microbiological testing also confirmed that the product is non-sterile and contaminated, with visible particles suspended in the injectable solution. Authorities have urged the public, healthcare professionals, and families to refrain from acquiring or administering this specific lot under any circumstances. Citizens are encouraged to report illegal distribution via the official email provided by the INHRR and to purchase medications only from authorized pharmacies and certified distributors.
