Venezuela launches housing census for earthquake‑displaced families while Mexico trains responders using astronomy and ​

In Venezuela, the Ministry of Habitat and Housing has begun a census of the Unique Housing Registry at the Leonardo Infante Transitional Camp in Miranda. The effort targets 80 families—about 250 people—who lost homes in the double‑tremor on 24 June that devastated much of the country’s central region. Earlier in the week, President Delcy Rodríguez handed over the first 200 newly built houses to victims, part of the national emergency plan to rebuild homes.

In Mexico, the Fundación para el Desarrollo de la Ciencia y la Tecnología (Fundacite) in Bolívar state organised a training programme on astronomy and robotics aimed at improving disaster response. Participants used the Stellarium 3‑D planetarium software under engineer Grecia Vizcaya, while engineer Nathaly Depaz presented UN‑standard rescue protocols and showcased advanced rescue robots, including snake‑type articulated units and quadruped sensors, as practical tools for post‑quake operations.
