Venezuela marks religious milestones with Cardinal Porras' birthday and saintly pilgrimage

In Venezuela, religious leaders and the faithful are marking significant milestones within the Catholic Church. Cardinal Baltazar Enrique Porras Cardoso is celebrating his 82nd birthday, recognized for his role as a spiritual leader and his advocacy for human rights and democracy during periods of national crisis.

Additionally, the Archdiocese of Caracas has organized a pilgrimage for October 18 to commemorate the first anniversary of the canonization of San José Gregorio Hernández and Santa Carmen Rendiles. The event will feature a procession through central Caracas, visiting locations significant to the lives and works of both figures, including the Hospital Vargas and the Museo José Gregorio Hernández, concluding with a solemn Eucharist at the Iglesia Corazón de Jesús.
