Venezuela medical federation reports widespread hospital deficiencies

The Venezuelan Medical Federation has reported severe deficiencies across the nation's healthcare system. Dr. Douglas León Natera, president of the federation, stated that approximately 95% of the country's 302 hospitals are in a state of chaos or have their doors nearly closed.

According to the federation, the situation has remained largely unchanged for two decades, with only minor, localized repairs occurring in a few facilities, such as the Luis Razetti oncology center. Natera noted that many institutions, including the Valera Social Security Hospital and the Menca de Leoni Pediatric Hospital in San Félix, are effectively abandoned or non-functional.

While hospitals remain open due to medical staff attempting to provide services despite the lack of resources, the federation criticized the national government for failing to address the systemic decay of the healthcare infrastructure.
