Venezuela Ministry increases university scholarship amounts

Venezuela's Ministry of University Education has announced a significant adjustment to scholarship amounts for public university students and teaching assistants. Starting in November, students will receive $40, which the Ministry describes as more than seven times the previous amount. Teaching assistants (preparadores) will receive a $60 stipend, approximately 11 times the previous base.

The new allocation system will be distributed through the Patria system and follows specific criteria: 50% based on socioeconomic status to prevent dropout, 25% for academic excellence, 15% for sporting and cultural merit, and 10% for teaching assistants.

The first stage of the application process for the National Public University Scholarship Program is scheduled to take place from October 9 to October 16 via a dedicated web portal. Applicants must be Venezuelan or permanent residents between the ages of 17 and 30.
