Venezuela mobile payments reach 8,500 transactions per minute

Venezuela is experiencing a significant surge in digital financial activity, with mobile payment transactions reaching 8,500 per minute as of August 2026. According to Richard Ujueta Contreras, president of the Venezuelan Chamber of Electronic Commerce (Cavecom-e), this represents a substantial increase from 6,000 transactions per minute in 2025 and over 7,000 in June of this year.

Ujueta Contreras noted that the country currently maintains the highest volume of financial transactions in Latin America and one of the highest globally, with 99% of operations being conducted digitally in bolívares.

Beyond payments, Cavecom-e is advocating for broader digital transformation through electronic invoicing. The organization supports government efforts to modernize administrative and tax processes, suggesting that digital systems provide better transparency and traceability compared to analog methods, ultimately fostering a more efficient state.
