Venezuela offers scientific resources to combat Caribbean sargassum

Venezuela has pledged to utilize its scientific and innovative capabilities to address the environmental challenges posed by sargassum seaweed. During the III Meeting of the Sargassum Subcommission of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS), Science and Technology Minister Yván Gil Pinto announced that the Venezuelan Institute for Scientific Research (IVIC) would be placed at the service of the regional alliance.

The initiative aims to mitigate the impact of the macroalgae on fishing, navigation, port infrastructure, and tourism throughout the Caribbean basin. Venezuela offered its laboratories, research centers, and technical personnel to support member nations in developing sustainable solutions to combat climate change and pollution affecting coastal communities.
