Venezuela oil deal: U.S. secures $7 billion agreement with Chevron

The United States has secured a significant oil agreement in Venezuela valued at approximately $7 billion. The deal involves the oil company Chevron and is structured to ensure that the U.S. position in the country's oil industry cannot be diluted by other parties.

According to reports, the agreement covers 17 strategic oil fields containing roughly 65 billion barrels of proven reserves. The deal aims to increase production and potentially impact U.S. gasoline prices. While some reports indicate the formal approval is already in place, the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV) has issued a statement categorically rejecting the transfer of national assets. The PCV claims the agreement was negotiated without transparency or constitutional oversight, alleging that a significant portion of the nation's primary wealth is being transferred to American interests through deals conducted outside of parliamentary supervision.
