Venezuela opens humanitarian road corridor linking Arauca and Cúcuta

Venezuela has opened a humanitarian road corridor that runs from the José Antonio Páez International Bridge in El Amparo through Guasdualito, La Pedrera, San Cristóbal and San Antonio del Táchira to the Simón Bolívar International Bridge. The new route shortens the distance between Arauca, Colombia and Cúcuta from about 380 km to 268 km and reduces travel time from roughly 14 hours to 5 hours, facilitating the movement of cargo and passengers.

Former Venezuelan National Assembly deputy Juan Carlos Palencia highlighted the corridor as a sign of solid Venezuelan‑Colombian solidarity amid severe flooding in Arauca that has isolated communities and damaged key infrastructure. He noted that the corridor will help mitigate the impact of climate‑related emergencies and ensure the flow of essential supplies across the border.
