Venezuela plans to modernize telecommunications via Cantv and Movilnet
Venezuela's Minister for Science and Technology, Yván Gil, met with executives from state-owned telecommunications companies Cantv and Movilnet to coordinate strategic plans for modernizing the nation's connectivity infrastructure. The meeting included Cantv President Iván Rafael Hernández Dala and Movilnet President Aníbal Briceño.
The discussions focused on expanding technical capacities, improving mobile and fixed-line telephony, and enhancing internet services for both residential and commercial users. A key component of the modernization plan involves interconnecting new transmission systems with Cantv's Festoon submarine cable, a project intended to improve international connectivity and reduce latency by allowing data transfer speeds of up to 14 terabits.
These efforts are part of a broader initiative to strengthen the national telecommunications sector and ensure more efficient service delivery across the country.
