Venezuela prepares celebrations for first anniversary of saint canonizations
The Catholic Church is organizing a series of religious activities to commemorate the first anniversary of the canonization of Venezuela’s first two saints, San José Gregorio Hernández and Santa Madre Carmen Rendiles.
In Caracas, the Archdiocese has scheduled several events. On Saturday, October 17, a prayer vigil will be held at the Sanctuary of La Candelaria, where the remains of San José Gregorio rest. On Sunday, October 18, a pilgrimage titled ‘The Path of Our Saints’ will take place, starting from the Basilica of the Sacred Heart in La Hoyada at 3:00 p.m. and concluding with a Mass in La Pastora at 6:00 p.m. The route will pass through areas significant to the lives of both saints.
On Monday, October 19, celebrations will continue with a Mass at the Colegio Belén chapel, officiated by the Apostolic Nuncio in Venezuela, Monsignor Alberto Ortega Martín. The festivities aim to renew messages of hope, health, and service to the Venezuelan people.
