Venezuela: Delcy Rodríguez announces economic reforms and energy updates

During the 82nd Annual Assembly of Fedecámaras, Venezuelan interim President Delcy Rodríguez announced several economic and social measures. Key highlights include the official start of Christmas festivities on November 1 to stimulate commercial activity.

On economic policy, Rodríguez stated that from 2027, worker income must grow faster than the national GDP. She also announced an upcoming tax reform aimed at harmonizing the fiscal burden to support the private sector. Regarding the energy sector, she revealed plans to reform the National Electric System to allow private participation in generation, transmission, and distribution, noting that agreements with General Electric and Impsa are expected to add 7,400 megawatts to the grid.

Additionally, Rodríguez reported an 8% year-to-date increase in oil production and noted that the government aims to secure $12 billion in financing over the next two years. She maintained a stance against formal dollarization, emphasizing the need to strengthen the bolívar to ensure monetary sovereignty and facilitate commercial and financial processes.
